Surprise! Instant Oatmeal

  • Makes 1 serving, 1

What you'll need

  • 1/3 cup instant oats

  • 1/3 cup boiling water

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons topping of your choice - craisins, raisins, chopped pecans, pomegranate seeds, chopped almonds, coconut flakes, apple chunks, berries, pear chunks, etc

How to make it

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the oats, cinnamon and boiling water. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.
  2. In a toddler-friendly bowl, add the toppings of your choice.
  3. Spoon the oatmeal on top of the toppings, completely covering the toppings. Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon and serve.

Other Oat Options – you can make this recipe with cooked old-fashion oats, steel cut oats or warmed quinoa cereal as well.
