We launched on Mother’s Day 2006 as Happy Baby, with the mission to change the trajectory of children’s health through nutrition. We’ve grown into Happy Family since then, but our mission remains the same. We’re proud to be changing the way we feed our children through a wide and comprehensive assortment of organic meals and snacks that everyone can enjoy!

When our Founder and Chairmom Shazi Visram saw her friend, a new mom of twins, struggle to find healthy food options for her baby, she found her purpose: give babies their healthiest, happiest beginning by offering parents organic, thoughtfully-made food. She didn’t just envision a business—she saw a social imperative to address the health issues linked to childhood nutrition.

2003

While attending Columbia Business School, Shazi nurtures the spark of an idea—start an organic, environmentally conscious baby food company to give our children the healthiest, happiest start possible. In 2005, Shazi finds the perfect partner in Jessica, and Happy starts growing!

2006

We’re here! Happy Family is born on Mother’s Day 2006 as Happy Baby. We launch with a premium, organic frozen baby food line in five Gourmet Garage locations across New York City.

2007-2008

Rejoice, little ones! We introduce Happy Bellies into the market—the first organic baby food cereal optimized with probiotics and DHA. We use that success as motivation for a bigger quest we have in mind: finding an alternative to the glass jar.

2009

We launch the first line of pouches in the US! After years of passionate, exhaustive research, we introduce pouches to the market as “the true alternative to the jar.” Recognized for its innovation, the design is also convenient and kid-friendly.

2010

We notice a lack of gluten-free organic baby products available, and want to change that—so we launch our Happy Baby Puffs!

2011

We become a certified B Corporation. That means we’re recognized as a for-profit company that meets rigorous social and environmental standards in performance, accountability, and transparency.

2012-2013

We continue to grow—and get noticed, too. Inc. 500 lists us as the “Fastest Growing Organic Food Company”, and we’re also recognized as one of the world’s “Fastest Women-Owned/Led” companies.

2016

Goodness you can see! We launch our Clearly Crafted™ pouches, making us the first to offer fully transparent baby food pouches with premium, organic ingredients you can see. We are also the first organic brand to list its recipes directly on the pouch.

2017

Parents don’t have all the answers—we know because we’re parents, too. That’s why we launch our Infant Feeding Support Platform, with nutrition experts, lactation consultants, and trustworthy products to provide the exceptional, tailored infant resources that all families deserve.

2017

Not only did we become a Public Benefit Corporation—legally updating our charter to reflect our commitment to a better world—we win the Best for the World: Changemakers Award, given to businesses that best exceed the high social and environmental standards set for B Corporations.
